Pick 2 - 1 NFC (top 4) and 1 AFC (bottom 4). Post your superbowl winner...
I'm too much of a wimp to pick the Saints...Where's Ride or Die/RoD/scubasteve/whatever his name is when I need him?
Bears v Chargers. Chargers win.
-
I have no freaking clue.
Whoever makes it in the NFC it will be by accident. And I just don't know the Chargers or Ravens well enough to know which of the two would be the other. At first I was going to say Ravens/Eagles, but now that I look at the matchups, maybe Charger/Bears is right. And to thank I was going to call out kermi3 for wussing out and picking the #1 seeds.
Ok, never mind... I'm not wussing out. There's no way Jeff Garcia should be able to take the Eagles to the Super Bowl, but I'm picking them anyway.
Eagles vs. Colts... Colts win. Wow.
-
I vote for a rematch, 21 years in the making:
Patriots vs da-bears.
-
You heard it here first:
Patriots over Chargers
Ravens over Colts
Eagles over Saints
Bears over Seahawks
Patriots over Ravens
Eagles over Bears
Patriots over Eagles
-
Eagles all the way? Not a chance. With a backup QB (granted a very good one). Wasn't it the first time ever last year that a wildcard team went all the way and everony is calling it again?
Saints over the Eagles this weekend.
-
Eagles aren't a wild card team, they won their division and are the third seed. Third seed has made it many many times before. Wild card teams have been to the Super Bowl quite a few times also, even winning. The Ravens were wild card when they won and the Broncos were wild card when they won their first. No team had won all road games before the Steelers last year, only since the Texans joined the league have all wild cards been forced on the road the entire playoffs.
-
Ah gotcha....Ok, that makes sense. Thanks.
-
Bears vs Chargers... Bears FTW.
-
Ok let's see...Pats lose, Colts lose, Eagles lose, and....Seawaks lose. Um...then Ravens and Bears lose.
So the Superbowl is Saints vs Chargers, Chargers win.
-
I'm voting for the Chargers and Colts because it's impossible and I'd love to see LT against Indy's run D.
-
I say Ravens win superbowl this year. Not sure who will emerge out of the NFC but I say the AFC will win again this year.
Here's my picks for this week:
Ravens over Colts
Patriots over Chargers
Eagles over Saints
Bears over Seahawks
Damn, these are PJ's picks. So I guess you heard it here 2nd
-
My full picks for this week:
Colts over Ravens (Ravens don't have enough offense)
Chargers over Pats (in SD, I don't think they can beat LT)
Seahawks over Bears (Not enough offense)
Saints over Eagles (Saints offense is too strong and Hollis Thomas is back and pissed off)
-
Chicago, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, San Diego
Don't ask for a reason, I still have no clue.
-
Hmm, 1 for 2. Couldn't catch either of the games though.
-
I hope the Seahawks win tomorrow...But I'm not counting on it.
-
Bears win it by a hair.
Maybe a Bear hair...?
-
Go 'Hawks.
I was at the Saints game last night. Most incredible sporting event of my life. My throat hurts :-/.
-
I was at the Saints game last night.
did you see that guy on the Eagles side line throw up when they lost that first down because of a flag in the last couple minutes? It was pretty gross on TV.
-
No I didn't, I was on the Saints sideline. That's awesome. It was so loud in there. We didn't even know it was a false start penalty until I got home and saw a recording. I thought it was holding - I didn't notice the yardage.
-
> No I didn't, I was on the Saints sideline.
Wait what
-
err, their side of the field. I couldn't see that much detail on the Eagles side.
-
Phew, I was about to beat you up in my jealousy.
For a team I don't care about.
In a sport I've watched very little of this year.
-
I'm disappointed. The Seahawks could easily have won that game; they just didn't pull through. But Alexander finally had a good performance
-
just want to point out that my pick, Pats over the Bears, is still feasible!
-
Now that I've lost the Ravens and the Eagles, I'm switching my picks. Colts vs Saints. I think this will finally be the game Manning beats his nemesis, and I'm sorry but the Bears just suck.
-
Those of you who made full picks for the week:
PJ: 2-2
CShot: 2-2
Kermi: 3-1
Charlie: 2-2
-
That was a pretty good weekend of football. One game is nothing but field goals... and the rest are all won by a field goal? Fucking insane if you ask me. I didn't see any overpowering offenses and a LOT of good defense in the games I watched.
Oh, and fuck the Colts. And fuck the Pats... I'm so sick of them winning.
-
Those of you who made full picks for the week:
PJ: 2-2
CShot: 2-2
Kermi: 3-1
Charlie: 2-2
Nice try Kermi, you're picks went 2-2 just like everyone elses.
-
err, type? :D
-
haha
i'm gonna go Pats and Bears this week
-
Colts and Saints.
-
Colts because they're in Indy
Saints because I have Faith
-
Da Bears sure showed up.
-
yes they did. Da Bears! (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/69344/super_bowl_shuffle/)
-
The AFC game turned out to be pretty damn awesome, too.
-
screw the bears - I hate them.
However, the Colts took some of the sting out of it. What a great game.
Go Colts!
-

-
I was in a room with two people from MA when they lost. I laughed at them.
-
Thank god I don't have to listen to a whole off season of Brady and Belichick being touted as the greatest of all time.
That was a great game though, I was about to turn the game off when it got 21-3 but decided to stick around for just a wee bit longer. Glad I did :D
I still think the Saints were the better team, they just couldn't get any of the breaks to fall their way this game. Too bad too, Saints vs Colts would have been a lot of fun, instead it'll likely be a blowout.
-
I think the Saints couldn't get started after the Refs slapped thier second and third posesssions away like flies. The crowd advantage and the footing also effected the saints more than the bears. Oh well, it happens. Draft a set of DBs and do it next year.
-
> I think the Saints couldn't get started after the Refs slapped thier second and third posesssions away like flies
That's kind of a bitch move, kermi. If they couldn't get pumped after Bush's crazy ass touchdown, they didn't really want it that bad.
-
I had the same feeling about the calls having a big effect on the Saints, but at one point it was 16-14. If the Saints win the game from that point on they are probably in the Super Bowl, but the Bears played a little bit better (errr... 23-0 better). It actually reminded me of the last Super Bowl. Several important and marginal calls going against the losing team, but none of them were blatantly bad. I'm a Steeler fan and I rooted for the Saints, so now I can see both sides of the coin.
Now that the Saints lost at least I know who I'm going to be rooting for in two weeks. I wouldn't mind the Bears winning, but I always have a soft spot for guys that get the "can't win the big one" label so go Manning/Dungy/Colts.
-
By the way, maybe this is the first time I've seen a game played in Indy... but holy fuck that stadium got quiet when Manning was under center! You could pretty much hear the audibles on TV!
-
I noticed that, too. And if something had just happened and the crowd was still buzzing, Manning would wave his arms and they'd go silent just like that. Well trained fans.
I thought it was funny late in the game, though when it sounded like a few Patriots fans were purposefully trying to make it loud when he waved his arms. Not quite enough of them there to do any damage though.
-
This should be an interesting Super Bowl matchup. I can't help but think that Grossman might win a ring before Manning.
-
I think you just made me throw up
-
You mean that elite club that includes Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson?
-
>> Brad Johnson
When did he win? Oh wait, I totally forgot about the Pirate bowl.
And he wasn't that bad anyway, especially earlier in his career.
Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, Mark Rypien, and Jeff Hostetler weren't as good as Johnson.
Not that this has anything to do with your point. I'm just rambling and enjoying trying to remember as many Super Bowl QBs as I can.
-
>>That's kind of a bitch move, kermi. If they couldn't get pumped after Bush's crazy ass touchdown, they didn't really want it that bad.
I think they wanted it. I think they wanted it real bad. They made their comeback, but the couldn't quite regain their mommentum with the sloppy turf...plus the Bears D wanted it pretty bad.
-
Oh come on man, they just got outplayed. Just admit it. You can't blame a loss that big on sloppy turf or two bad calls at the beginning of the game.
-
I'll second that.
-
Damn you Bush! Why did you have to taunt Urlacher and bring down the Bears wrath?? Seriously, from that point on the Bears took it to second level.
-
ok...after they lost momentum, they got outplayed. damnit.
-
31-28 Bears win.
-
28-10 Colts. Grossman is pulled midway through the 1st quarter for Griese, who is immediately pulled for Kyle Orton. Kyle's neckbeard throws for 1 TD and 3 picks.
-
Colts 26-17.
- Vinatieri gets 4 field goals: 23, 37, 44, 46 yards.
- Manning gets 1 touchdown to somebody I've never heard of. He also throws 1 interception.
- Berrian has 3 catches for 117 yards and 1 touchdown.
- Jones and Benson combine for 98 yards rushing.
- Grossman completes 40% of his passes and throws 1 touchdown and 2 interception (but one of the interceptions will be a hail mary type play or a tipped ball).
- Both teams fumble twice. The Bears lose one of their fumbles, but the Colts recover both of theirs.
- Hester has only one great kickoff return. The rest are average (or touchbacks or out of bounds or to upbacks).
- Only two of these predictions will be even remotely close to being true.
Guaranteed!
-
Colts 38-10.

You know what's great about the Super Bowl? We're all allowed to wear jeans and jerseys to work tomorrow. I know they mean "a Colts or Bears jersey", but fuck that, we're in Detroit. I'm wearing my Wings jersey tomorrow.
-
>>I'm wearing my Wings jersey tomorrow.
Awesome!
-
21-20 Bears,
Colts fail to make a 2 point conversion in the 3rd quarter, then miss a 52 yard field goal attempt in the 4th, followed by a full court 3 pointer which bounces off the rim at the buzzer...
oops, I drifted into another sport there didn't I? oh well, it could happen.
-
why the hell would they go for 2 in the third if they're only down a point?
-
why the hell would they go for 2 in the third if they're only down a point?
because no one would expect it, that's the beuty.
-
I just picture the Bears lining up to block a FG, and suddenly Urlacher notices what's going on. "FUCK! Why does Manning have the ball! Where's Vinatieri? We've been had, boys!"
For effect, Peyton Manning will be played by Snidely Whiplash
-
23-17 Colts
-
Got 0 and 0 in the $50/square pool!
Those could be ok.
-
21-17 Colts...Manning throws 2 TDs and 1 pick; Grossman throws 1 TD and 2 picks. Jones gets Chi's 2nd TD.
Had an last minute pep rally at my elementary school for Peyton a couple days ago. Kids were crazy for the rest of the day...I was shoicked by how man y dumb parents went out and spent $60 so their 8 year old could have a Peyton shirt. Stupid parents.
-
majority of the "experts" picked saints to win a couple weeks ago; same goes for the big game - I hope the bears will prove all you wrong, again (except perspective <3 ).
Da Bears!
-
oh yeah: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDR3zieBJRo
-
Joke's on you axon - we're not experts!
edit: I picked the Bears to beat the saints too.
-
I'm changing my pick. Bears to win. That hugh o-line is going to control the clock.
-
Colts 26-17.
Guaranteed!
So close - Actual score: Colts 29-17.
- Wrong - Vinatieri tried four field goals, but missed one and all three of his makes were from less than 30 yards.
- So close - One TD and one INT, but I've heard of Reggie Wayne.
- Dead wrong - But Muhammed ended up with 3 catches for a 11.7 yard average and 1 touchdown.
- Wrong - They combined for 111.
- Wrong - He completed 71.4%, and while he threw 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions, neither interception was tipped or a hail mary.
- Wrong - The Colts fumbled twice and lost both, the Bears fumbled four times and lost three.
- Correct - Hester had one great kickoff return, the rest were to upbacks.
- Dead wrong - I did pretty good!
Guaranteed!
-
Man, I swear I was about to post that the bears would return the opening kick for a TD, but I didn't.... and I was right!
-
:(
-
Agreed.
-
I didn't really care who won, but I'm glad Manning got his ring. I think he deserved it and they were definately all over the Bears.
-
Right before kickoff I started to say it to my friends...I stopped :-/
