a great sandwich
« on: February 04, 2010, 10:49:18 PM »
Here is a recipe for one of my favorite sandwiches - goat cheese (chevre) and tomato:

-bread. oh yeah, but not wonder bread...old world bread/italian bread/polish bread however you want to call it-bread; it is the bread that comes in a loaf, is oven baked, and has a thick crust (btw, that is the only bread we eat at my house). If it is fresh and crispy, use that, if not, toast it.
-some butter on the bread
-spread some goat cheese - depends on how much you like it, mine has to be pretty thick
-two tomato slices on top
-salt
-fresh ground pepper

enjoy!

these are freagin delicious. It is not an everyday snack as goat cheap is expensive. Every once in a while I'll have a craving for it - like today. Really hits those taste buds =)

try it!

that like defeats the whole point of having a sam'mich - you gotta have meats!

Notice the plural.  Meats with an "s".

Wait I take it back, you don't need meat on a grilled cheese, but that is the only acceptable non-meat sandwich

Try it with pepporoni or ham, you'll never go back

I don't like ham all that much but this pepperoni idea intrigues me.

It's really good. I slice it up (i use presliced, but its never as good) and then place it between paper towels so it wont cook as greasy. It's phenomenal

This also makes an excellent appetizer. Made on small toast.

Oh yeah, bumping a three year old thread because these are just so damn good.
