Favorite non-chain restruants

Post restruants with excellent food that you know of.  They're not allowed to be a chain (Max & Erma's, Macaroni Grille, Friday's are all OUT... and I'd be disappointed if anyone actually wanted to nominate any of them).

Frederick, MD - Cacique (Mexican/Spanish)
Savannah, GA - Bistro-Savannah

Zingerman's Deli - Ann Arbor, MI
Expensive but very very good sandwiches.  Stay away if you don't like crowds though.

Twisted Spoke - Chicago, IL
There are two locations but I'm not counting this as a chain.  They're technically a bar, but I went there for smut and eggs night.  They play (really really terrible) porn and serve excellent breakfast food.  The beer selection is really good as well

Wing Fong - Flint, MI
Good cheap chinese food on those drunk nights :)

They closed my favorite restaurant around here :(

The Barbarian Steak House - Elm St., Toronto
Extremelly expensive, but easily the best steak you'll ever have in your life. Wine list is on the order of a couple hundred pages.

Louisa's - Peron St., St. Albert, Alberta
Little inexpensive Italian place, amazing food, good prices.

Is this the same place that has "Arts Pizza and Grinders" around the city?

I'll have to check out the Dispatch next time I'm in town - I've never even heard of that.

I'll also add:
Crunchy's - East Lansing, MI
Great burgers, cheap beer, a friendly atmosphere, and also cheap beer
