Coffee Percolators
« on: March 05, 2008, 09:46:41 AM »
After spending two weeks in Italy I can't drink North American coffee anymore... it just isn't the same (even an espresso). So I bought a percolator.. like this .
Anyone had any experience with these? I need to buy some coarse blend coffee or something before I can try it, hopefully its good.

Now I just need a way to steam milk to make a macchiato.

American coffee == watered down crap.
Italian coffee == caffeinated orgasm.

even if you make it strong and drink it black (the way I do) it still doesn't have the flavour it needs. I think this justifies moving to Italy.

Remember when we beat the shit out of Italy in WWII?  Yeah, if we wanted that faggy ass tiny coffee we'd have taken it.

Coffee isn't suppose to have taste.  It is suppose to smack you awake and provide you with caffeine.

Folgers in my autodrip is fine for me.  As long as the waters clean it taste pretty good to me.

it was fine for me too, until I spent two weeks in Italy... It's like how living with 4 roomates in college is fine until you get your first place to yourself, or how driving an old beater is fine until you test drive a lexus.

Once you go Italian you can't go back.

When I traveled to France and Sweden, the coffee was stellar.  I drank gallons.  Our US coffee and how it is made is pretty dim in comparison. :(

The one I bought (exactly like the picture above) is actually two pieces, it screws together in the middle with the funnel inside. So separated it doesn't take up too much space. You may be able to find a smaller version, I just bought the first one I found at the grocery store ($10).

That looks pretty heavy, though.  I really only need one that makes 2-3 reasonable sized cups (so a 4-6 cup maker)
