Electric kettles are the bomb. We just upgraded our Bonavita to the EKG. Definitely get a goose neck. French press or ceramic pour over hario v60, or both. For tea, same thing but a Zero Japan pot.

And I highly recommend https://www.teasource.com/ for tea. My fav is blueberry fields. It's a local shop for me but they ship.

The problem with most "makers" is they don't control water temperature properly or let you have any adjustments over it. There are some higher end ones but IMO it's just better to do pour over or french press. If you're an espresso fan then maybe a Mocha pot, my wife just got an electric one.

Get a nice hand grinder like the Hario Skerton Pro too.

Kettle is for water so both coffee and tea. The French press is for coffee.

Also, a French press is super useful for making cold press and can also fits under a Hario V60 so you can use it for pour overs too.

Dang, that EKG looks so nice. Was your Bonavita sufficient before upgrading? I haven't actually owned an electric kettle since ours died a couple years ago but I really miss having one I had no idea they got this high end.

It served us well for a few years. I got it from a Massdrop group buy. Nothing really wrong with it. I just saw the EKG and liked it and my wife got it for my birthday. We use it every day. It does have a couple nice features around holding temp that the bonavita doesn't have, but it can be problematic too if you forget it's empty and put it back on the heater.

this the one we have, it looks cool when you use it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I32GRI6

i originally got it to make tea/coffee (not in a press but in one of those little funnel filters that fits over the mug) but we use it for several other things, like making instant mashed potatoes or stove top stuffing.
